Two OSFP-800G-2DR4 transceivers are installed on both 800G OSFP switches and connected through two MPO-8 APC OS2 single-mode fiber cables, enabling direct 800G connectivity. It supports transmission up to 500m over OS2, making it suitable for Spine-Spine and Spine-Core high-speed interconnects in AI data centers.
One OSFP-800G-2DR4 transceiver connects to two OSFP-400G-DR4 transceivers, enabling 800G to 2×400G breakout connectivity. It supports transmission up to 500m over OS2, making it suitable for high-speed switch-to-server connections in AI data centers.
One OSFP-800G-2DR4 transceiver connects to four Q112-400G-DR4 transceivers through breakout cables. Each Q112-400G-DR4 transceiver automatically disables two lanes and operates at 200G, enabling 800G to 4×200G breakout connectivity. It supports transmission up to 500m over OS2, making it suitable for high-speed switch-to-server connections in AI data centers.

OSFP-800G-2DR4 is recommended to be used with OS2 single-mode MPO/APC cables, usually 12-fiber MPO/APC Type-B polarity cables, with a maximum transmission distance of up to 500m.
IHS refers to Integrated Heat Sink, meaning that the transceiver has an integrated heat sink. It is commonly seen in Finned Top or Closed Finned Top structures and is mainly used in air-cooled switch environments. RHS refers to Riding Heat Sink, meaning that the transceiver itself does not have an integrated heat sink, and the heat sink is located on the device-side cage. It is commonly seen in Flat Top modules or specific liquid-cooled / server platforms.

This Finned Top OSFP transceiver is mainly designed for air-cooled data centers and should not be used in liquid-cooled environments.

We used these 2DR4 modules for single-mode connections between cabinets, with a distance of a few hundred meters. The links came up normally, and the test results have been stable so far.
Before placing the order, we confirmed the cable type with the sales team several times and finally chose MPO/APC single-mode cables. After receiving the products, we connected them according to the plan, and both device recognition and connectivity worked properly.
The modules have been tested on our QM9700 switches and worked normally. Compatibility and delivery speed were our main concerns, and this order basically met our expectations.
We first ordered a small number of samples for lab testing. During traffic tests, we did not see any obvious packet loss. We are still observing long-term stability, but the short-term results are acceptable.
Compared with a multimode solution, OS2 single-mode cabling is more suitable for this project. AICPLIGHT’s technical support helped us confirm the connection method and quantity, which helped us avoid ordering the wrong cables.
