What are the advantages of Broadcom DSP and Broadcom VCSEL?

Broadcom DSP can improve the equalization and compensation capability of high-speed PAM4 signals, helping to reduce the bit error rate and improve link stability. Broadcom VCSEL also offers good power consumption and stability performance. AICPLIGHT adopts a Broadcom DSP + Broadcom VCSEL solution, which helps the module maintain more stable link performance during long-term operation.

Can a UPC cable be connected to the OSFP-800G-2SR4 transceiver?

No. OSFP-800G-2SR4 usually adopts an MPO/APC interface and should be used with MPO/APC multimode fiber cables. UPC and APC end-face structures are different. Even if they can be physically inserted, it will cause abnormal insertion loss and return reflection, which will lead to the link failing to establish properly.

What is the on-device bit error rate of OSFP-800G-2SR4?

Under normal link conditions, the Pre-FEC BER of OSFP-800G-2SR4 can usually reach the level of 1E-9 to 1E-11, and the Post-FEC BER can reach the level of 1E-15.

What fiber should be used with OSFP-800G-2SR4?

OSFP-800G-2SR4 is recommended to be used with MPO/APC multimode fiber cables. The typical transmission distance is 30m over OM3 and 50m over OM4.
