Two OSFP-800G-2SR4 transceivers are installed on both 800G OSFP switches and connected by two MPO-8 APC multimode cables. It supports 30m over OM3 and 50m over OM4, ideal for Spine-Spine and Spine-Core interconnects in AI data centers.
One OSFP-800G-2SR4 transceiver connects to two OSFP-400G-SR4 transceivers, enabling 800G to 2×400G breakout connectivity. It supports 30m over OM3 and 50m over OM4, suitable for high-speed switch-to-server connections in AI data centers.
One OSFP-800G-2SR4 transceiver connects to four Q112-400G-SR4 transceivers through breakout cables. Each Q112-400G-SR4 transceiver automatically disables two lanes and operates at 200G, enabling 800G to 4×200G breakout connectivity. Broadcom DSP can improve the equalization and compensation capability of high-speed PAM4 signals, helping to reduce the bit error rate and improve link stability. Broadcom VCSEL also offers good power consumption and stability performance. AICPLIGHT adopts a Broadcom DSP + Broadcom VCSEL solution, which helps the module maintain more stable link performance during long-term operation.
No. OSFP-800G-2SR4 usually adopts an MPO/APC interface and should be used with MPO/APC multimode fiber cables. UPC and APC end-face structures are different. Even if they can be physically inserted, it will cause abnormal insertion loss and return reflection, which will lead to the link failing to establish properly.
Under normal link conditions, the Pre-FEC BER of OSFP-800G-2SR4 can usually reach the level of 1E-9 to 1E-11, and the Post-FEC BER can reach the level of 1E-15.
OSFP-800G-2SR4 is recommended to be used with MPO/APC multimode fiber cables. The typical transmission distance is 30m over OM3 and 50m over OM4.
We installed these modules on our 800G switches for short-distance connections. They are running normally so far. We have not seen any link drops over OM4, and the overall performance has been stable.
We mainly used them for 800G to 2×400G connection testing. Both the switch and adapter cards recognized the modules properly. We were a little concerned about compatibility at first, but the actual testing went smoothly.
After receiving this batch of modules, we ran on-device tests. The BER results were within our expected range. We ran traffic for a period of time and did not find any obvious issues.
The packaging and labels were clear, so our field engineers did not spend much time checking the model numbers during installation. This is quite helpful for batch deployment.
We have used some 800G SR modules before, and the temperature and stability can vary a lot. These modules have performed well so far. If they continue to run reliably over the long term, we will consider purchasing more.
